Glory be to Jesus Christ!

Welcome to the Penn State Byzantine Catholic Campus Ministry Homepage

The Byzantine Catholic Campus Ministry serves to provide weekly Divine Liturgy on campus for all Penn State University Park students of any Eastern Catholic rite. Please join us Sunday evenings at 7:30pm in the Eisenhower Chapel during the Fall and Spring semesters.

Our pastor, Fr. Robert Oravetz (Ruthenian Catholic), comes to us from the Pittsburgh Byzantine Catholic Metropolitan Archeparchy. His home parish is St. John the Baptist (Hawk Run, PA), yet he also serves Dormition of the Mother of God (Clarence, PA) as well as the newly formed State College Byzantine Catholic Community which holds Liturgy on Saturday evenings at 7:00pm at Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church here in State College, PA.

Students of the following Eastern Catholic rites - to name a few - are encouraged to attend Divine Liturgy on campus for an all too familiar religious service at a location that may be distant from home. Roman Catholics are also equally welcome to attend and receive the Eucharist.

  • Albanian Byzantine Catholic
  • Belarusian Greek Catholic
  • Bulgarian Greek Catholic
  • Greek Byzantine Catholic
  • Hungarian Greek Catholic
  • Italo-Albanian Catholic
  • Macedonian Greek Catholic
  • Melkite Greek Catholic
  • Russian Byzantine Catholic
  • Ruthenian Catholic
  • Slovak Greek Catholic
  • Ukrainian Greek Catholic

Please take time to read the following excellent column on the Penn State Byzantine Catholic Campus Ministry written by Dr. Thomas P. Shubeck.
