The Blue & White Society was first started on paper in the 1990's and did not become active until 2000. Kim Stewart was the first President. There were very few events and/or meetings during the groups inaugural year. The first meeting only had 10 people in attendance!
Past events that we no longer put on include Ed Heads (now Nitt Witts), Election Night Celebration (held in March to celebrate elections for ARHS, UPAC, and UGA), and Afterfest (alcohol free concert held on the HUB Lawn during ArtsFest). Other events that have expanded: Lil' Lions (used to be once a year and is now 3 times per semester), Rally in the Valley, and Wing Bowl. Recently created events include Blue & White Bash.
Blue & White Society has always been an active participator in THON and Homecoming. In both 2003 (Lion King theme) and 2004 (Smurfs theme) the Blue & White Society won 1st Place Overall in their division for Homecoming. Blue & White Society has grown from having 2 THON dancers to now having 6 THON dancers and raising over $15,000!
Past Presidents have been: Jamie Nelson (2000-2001), Lance Marquardt (2001-2002), Tim Dorman (2002-2003), Rob Schutz (2003-2004), Shannon Burger (2004-2005), Erin Grady (2005-2006), Emily Jessen (2006-2007), Erin Bankey (2007-2008).
In 2004 the Blue & White Society was voted the Largest and Most Active Student Organization at University Park by UGA.
