What Kind of Bikes do you ride? Mountain (my first love), road and cross (hopefully by Fall 2008)

Years Riding/Racing: I learned to ride a bike later than a lot of people (12yrs old) on a bike that wasn’t mine; I really became obsessed with bikes and all things cycling in the Fall of 2006, and I’ve never raced.

Favorite Ride: Anything steep in State College, Rothrock (mountain) & the Winery loop in Boalsburg (road), plus the 96 miles I rode in one day along The Great Allegheny Passage Trail.

Dream ride: The volcano Mt. Etna in Sicily. I was at the top of it once and I swore I’d come back to ride it one day!

Dream Bike: Either a Bianchi cross bike or something that I built myself.

What was your first bike? A Giant Boulder (my one and only, totaled in an MVA)

Favorite Artists: Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, Dylan, Miles, Coltrane, Neutral Milk Hotel

Best crash: I was mtb in Rothrock and got a little break-happy at the end of a steep descent, tore up my elbow and developed a few bruises, among them a 6-inch long 4-inch wide bruise on my upper thigh. The crash itself wasn’t anything special, but the next day at work was what made it my best. I was getting ready to read to a three-year old boy, but when he wanted to sit on my lap I had to say no (because of my fresh bruise). Of course, he asked why and wanted to know what happened. I showed him my elbow and, bright blue eyes wide, he began to lift up my skirt wanting to see the bruise that I’d told him about. Luckily it was a long skirt so he didn’t get anywhere –but I still laugh thinking about it!

Favorite thing about PSU Cycling: Meeting so many varieties of bikers and the way everyone knows how good it feels to get on a bike and JUST RIDE! And of course, Ladies’ Night!

Other Interests: Cooking, reading/writing, live music…

Quote: "When the spirits are low, when the day appears dark…when hope hardly seems worth having, just mount a bicycle and go out for a spin down the road, without thought on anything but the ride you are taking." -Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
