~Welcome to the Spring Semester!!!~

February 2nd, 2007

• meeting started at 6:35pm with the discussion of some club stuff
  
  
• Pizza came at 6:30pm, and the people present started devouring it.


• Just as we were wondering if any new people would ever show up, two of them entered the room! Welcome! An introduction of the members ensued, followed by a random tangent about superman and where he came from.
  


• Christeallia talked about the club and its major activities--games, talks, open houses, planetarium shows, movie nights, socials, and more.
  
  
• Possible idea of a trip to a nearby science museum that is astronomy oriented. Question is whether people would like it before spring break or after spring break. The issue is still unresolved. Feedback is always nice and welcome!
  
  
• Eberly College of Science Information Fair is on Mar 31, from 8am-1:30pm; set up is at 7:30am. The club is looking for volunteers, so email Christeallia (cma184) if interested.
  
  
• More people arrived at the meeting. More introduction.
  
  
• Random tangent on spam, and the mystery of its source. We decided it was the astro department and not the astro club.
  
  
• Question directed to everyone, but mostly new members: What did you expect from the club when you first walked in? Suggestions for more attendance is extremely welcome. Some ideas: building instruments like telescopes, learning how to run a planetarium show, learning how to operate the telescopes on the rooftop, making posters to advertise the club, having profound discussions about the universe... More?
  
  
• Since the main thing on the agenda was movie watching, we went on to that but had trouble deciding which movie to watch. Almost each movie had at least one vote, but Contact won at the end with 4 votes.
  
  
• TV was not working at first, but after "auto-searching," it worked.

• Planetarium show was at 8:45pm, because it was snowing

• even though it was St. Patrick's Day, we had quite an attendance

• discussion of the club trip near the end of April--it'll be a Saturday, and locations probably around Philadelphia. We need a driver, otherwise we would have to take the bus.
