Welcome to ASM at PSU!

Our first general meeting for Fall 2010

September 7, 2010

Start at 7.35 PM. Meet ASM officers and other members at Room 012 Life Science building. Refreshments will be provided.

4/14/10 - ASM is hosting a table at the Science Exploration Day at the BJC on April 17th on Malaria. Come and check it out! We’ll be there from 11AM to 3PM!


4/14/10 - We’re having a t-shirt designed for this year. Check out the design and email Joe Wahler (the VP) if you’d like to order one! The price will be between $10 and $15.


4/13/10 - Check out our pictures from the ASM trip to the CDC and our participation in a project for Habitat for Humanity!


We welcome you to the Penn State Chapter of the ASM. Please feel free to check out the links above, including our new calendar! All member meetings will be held every other Tuesday at 7:35 PM in 10 Life Science Building. The next meeting is: April 27, 2010!

    NOTE: The April 27 meeting will be a picnic on the HUB

    lawn at 6 PM! Bring your own food and join us for our

    end-of-year celebration!


A Little About Us

The student chapter of the ASM serves as Penn State’s premier resource for students of any major interested in microbiology and related fields. Membership to the chapter affords students with an opportunity to actively enrich their educational experience through:


Discussions and Presentations

  1. Receive assistance with course selection and scheduling issues

• Learn about undergraduate research opportunities

  1. Discover exciting options in Cooperative Education and Study Abroad

• Prepare for entrance to graduate and medical school

  1. Explore career paths in microbiology with guest speakers from government and/or industry


Social Events

  1. Attend regular chapter meetings that are both fun and informative

  2. Get to know your fellow students at ASM-sponsored social functions

  3. Take part in microbiology-related field trips to various sites on and off campus

• Travel to local and national ASM meetings


Community Service

  1. Engage in local community service projects and philanthropies
