We are trying to get donations and help from people in different departments on campus. At the same time we understand that departments have their own policies on donation solicitation. If you wish to help the cyclone effort please ensure that you are not violating any of your department's written or unwritten rules. We have prepared packages that make it easy for you to gather support from faculty, staff and students of your department. Each package has:

• a collection box
• a pledge sheet
• 2 instrumental music nite flyers
• 2 orange flyers with tear-off information slips
• a few information filled sheets with detailed contact information

In my department (Computer Science and Engg.) we first obtained permission from the graduate secretary to have a collection box and to send an email to all the department lists (grad, faculty, staff and undergrad). We placed the collection box, the pledge sheet, one of the music nite flyers, one of the orange sheets and a few of the information sheets in the mail room. Our mail room, which doubles as a kitchen, sees a lot of traffic every day and seemed the appropriate place to set up the collection box. The pledge sheet is mainly for people who wish to make a donation but cannot do so at that moment. We also put up one orange "tear-off" flyer and a music nite flyer on our department's general purpose bulletin board.

In your department a different approach may need to be adopted.
