Sahiyar (Stree Sanghathan)
Sahiyar(Stree Sanghathan) is an organisation based in Vadodara, Gujarat established in 1984. Sahiyar works for the empowerment of women and aims at working towards a society free from any form of inequality, injustice and oppression against any human being. Sahiyar also strives to create a society in which women have equal status and recognition as human beings. Sahiyar intends to achieve (or has achieved) these objectives through awareness programs, campaigns and support services for women in need of justice.
     
Sahiyar's goals are multifold and is classified as,

1. Movement against violence against women : To create awareness about violence against women at home or the workplace. To this end support women in crisis, organise campaigns of protest, campaigns against sex determination and discrimination.

2. Support for adolescent girls : Group counselling, educational scholarships.

3. Organising women on a community level : Financial and legal awareness workshops.

4. Communal harmony through work with women : Campaigns and concentrated efforts with other organisations.

5. Celebration of important days (Independence day etc) in the context of women's movement.

6. Support of human rights (women centered).

7. Meeting and training of the Sahiyar volenteers.

8. Networking at the national level : Being a part of bigger national level fora.

9. Other activities including student projects and placements, libraries and documentations, meeting with visitors and spreading the word around.
