Guest speaker series
More than 67% of our chapters funds are raised through Shramdaan -- work contribution. We volunteer our time at various events in return for donations to AID. Over the years, we have manned the concession stand at Jeffrey Field during soccer games, worked in Rec Hall when the Lady Lions volleyball team was in action, hawked water at football games and worked at the creamery stand in Bryce Jordan Center. We have even helped out at two weddings! These activities are possible because of students and community members who volunteer anywhere from once a year to several times a month.

These funds are used to carry out various grass-root level projects in India.

Please contact us if you are interested in helping us out.

Food festival -- every March/April
This annual spring-semester event since 1999 has become an AID-Penn State Tradition. In an amazingly united effort, the Indian community of State College cooks and contributes enough food for 400 people. Student volunteers take care of nitty-gritty stuff like finding and booking a good campus location, publicizing the event, finding sponsors, selling tickets, selling the food. It's terrific teamwork (even if we say so ourselves) and great fun. More...

Football games -- 6-8 during Fall semester
During the Fall semester, we sell bottled water in the Beaver Stadium. No Ph.D. or MBA is necessary, not even an MS. You hand out bottles and collect the money. Some of us who enjoy shouting have taken enthusiastically to hawking water in the stands, but you certainly don't have to do that if you're on the quiet side. Games are on Saturdays, and you usually have to be there from around 9:30 or 10 am until about 4 or 4:30 pm. There are about 7-8 games during the semester. More...

Concerts...
In addition to cheering the Nittany Lions during the football games AID-Penn State also holds a musical concert every Fall Semester. Last year the upcoming local State College band "Induz Elementz" performed their first ever concert. More...
