Competitions

On December 2 the Penn State AHS chapter held a series of aerospace-related competitions. The idea was to inspire creative thinking and keep people interested in helicopters as finals week approached.
  • Chinese Top Competition
  • The Chinese Top Competition was a target competition where contenders launched Chinese Tops at a target on the floor approximately 10 meters from the launch point. After three successive launches the person with the lowest average miss distance was declared the winner
  • Egg-Drop Competition
  • Using the Chinese tops and other supplies provided by AHS, competitors designed and built devices to slow the fall of a plastic egg filled with pennies. The device which protected the heaviest payload from breaking was declared the winner.
