Pilot's Panel
On November 10 the Penn State AHS chapter invited four helicopter pilots to come speak with students
and take their questions.

Lionel Tausig is a graduate of Penn State's Rotorcraft Center of Excellence who currently works at
Agusta Aerospace Corporation in Philadelphia. He is primarily an engineer, but also has 60 hours
of flight time on the A109E Power and the A119 Koala.
Greg Johnson is a Research Administrator at Penn State's Applied Research Laboratory and a Former U.S. Marine
Corps CH-46 Sea Knight pilot. He has 4350 hours in both fixed and rotary wing aircraft including the T-34C, T-28
A-4, F-4, C-130, CH-53D, AH-1 and CH-46. He has experience aboard Aircraft carriers, and in 1989 flew across the
U.S. in a home-built airplane.
Lynn Byers is a Penn State graduate student returning for her Ph.D. after a tour of duty in Japan. She is a Lieutenant
Colonel in the U.S. Army with 1800 hours flight time, primarily in the UH-60 Blackhawk and the UH-1 Huey, and is an
instructor pilot for the UH-1H.
Barney A. Grimes III is a retired Colonel from the U.S. Marine Corps and project manager for the Marine Corps
Research University. He was commissioned in 1974 and has since accumulated 3700 hours of flight time in over 30 types
His main experience is as a UH-1N pilot and as an experimental test pilot. He is involved with V-22 program and was the
first Marine assigned to the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA). He has a Masters of Science Degree in International
Relations from Auburn University, did his Post-Graduate studies in Aeronautical and Industrial Engineering from Oregon
State University, and is a Graduate of the USN Test Pilot School, the United States Air Force Air Command and Staff College
and the US Naval War College of aircraft.
