September
Wednesday 9/2: Major Meeting -- 6:30pm - 7:45pm, 112 Forest Resource Building
This meeting is for all non-senior Actuarial students and will be
led by myself and Tom Fischer. We will be talking about Actuarial classes
at Penn State, the SOA/CAS exams, VEE (Validation by Educational Experience)
courses at Penn State, and just a couple of our summer internship
experiences. Be prepared to possibly take notes (if desired) and any
questions that you may have. The professors of the actuarial classes will
also talk for a few minutes and will be around to answer any questions.
Tuesday 9/8: Resume Workshop -- 6:30pm - 9:00pm, 106 Forest Resource Building
This is for any Actuarial Science major looking to fix up their
Resume. Vice President Tom Fischer will be giving a short presentation on
how to customize your Resume to Actuarial employers, giving you a better
chance to receive the job or internship you are looking for. Other officers
of the club will also be there to give you as much 1-on-1 help as possible.
Finally, several officers will display their Resume as an example;
hopefully give you a sense of direction on your own Resume.
Friday 9/18: Career Fair -- 5:00pm - 8:00pm, Business Atrium
Mark this day in your calendars, this is the biggest day
for actuarial students and employers to meet & greet. We expect to have
about 20 companies, which means plenty of opportunities for all of our
students! Dress Attire is Business Professional. We will be sending out
more information specifically regarding the Career Fair in the next couple
of weeks, but for now just keep this date in mind.
Sunday 9/13 & Onward: Corporate Information Sessions, various times and buildings
Opportunities to learn about companies and talk to representatives from the companies are available to majors on campus. Try to attend as many of the following as possible:
