Alumni Contact Network

Dear Alumni,

On behalf of the USITT Penn State Student Chapter, I would like to introduce our organization and state our purpose for contacting you. USITT@PSU is a student chapter of the United States Institute for Theatre Technology, the association of design, production, and technology professionals in the performing arts and entertainment industry. USITT@PSU is proud to be among the largest and most active student chapters in the nation and shares similar goals to the national organization. We hold master classes on special topics & social activities for our members, plan events that act as fundraisers for our organization & activities for the Penn State community, and are committed to philanthropy through support for Behind the Scenes, a charity for ill or injured entertainment technology professionals. This year we kick off our high school outreach education program, inviting high school students to our theatres to learn about theatre technology and safety from our members. As an organization, we also spend the year fundraising and organizing for our trip to the annual USITT conference. Going to conference allows our members the opportunity to meet and network with industry professionals. The conference offers over 175 educational sessions in design and technology and includes the Stage Expo, which showcases businesses, products, and educational opportunities in the performing arts and entertainment industry. Students also have the opportunity to enter design work for exhibition, and can be nominated for awards.
As our organization has grown, we have expanded various aspects of programming to better suit the needs of our members and the goals of USITT@PSU. Foremost among these goals has been to provide our members with opportunities to network with professionals in the entertainment industry, including Penn State alumni. To this end, we seek to create an Alumni Contact Network to bring together our members and our alumni. The first step in this process is to provide current members of the USITT Penn State Student Chapter with a database to contact alumni of Penn State School of Theatre who have worked or are currently working in the design, production, and technology fields of the performing arts and entertainment industry. In creating this database we have three goals:

1.To provide current students with professional mentors who are actively working in the performing arts and entertainment industry.
2.To encourage communication and interaction between alumni and current students.
3.To encourage alumni support of student chapter endeavors.

We hope that our endeavors interest you and you choose to support them by allowing us to place your name and contact information in a database only used and seen by members of USITT@PSU and other consenting alumni. If you would like to participate in our effort, please reply to this e-mail with:
