The PENN STATE UNIVERSITY CHOIR is the oldest mixed voiced choir in the School of Music. Undergraduate and graduate students from every college at the University Park campus perform sacred and secular music in annual Fall and Spring concerts as well as in tours across the state. Membership in the choir is through audition. The choir of approximately 80 singers embraces the rich choral heritage that Penn State University offers through its program which includes eight ensembles.

Over the years, several noted composers have created new works for the University Choir. Most notable is Dominick Argento whose Peter Quince At The Clavier was premiered in 1981. Former and current University Choir members have also created compositions in including Mark Wurster's Psalm 130 and Phillip Torbert's Laudate Deum which was premiered in November 1999.

In past years, the University Choir has performed for The Eastern Division Convention of the Music Educators National Conference as well as The Pennsylvania Music Educators Conference. The choir has toured throughout Pennsylvania over the past one hundred years, including appearances in Annville, Latrobe, Lancaster, Hershey, Harrisburg, Macungie, Palmyra, Boiling Springs, Camp Hill, and Pittsburgh. Internationally, the University Choir has performed in countries such as Austria, the Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, and Poland.
