 Internships and Careers for Humanities Students (Ohio State)

 The InternCenter is a partnership of colleges and universities located in cities across the US. Its mission is to create a nationwide list of internship opportunities to be shared by students of those schools. The InternCenter aims to locate employers within its schools' geographic areas that anticipate a need for interns in the current academic year.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS

 

 The mission of INROADS is to develop and place talented minority youth in business and industry and prepare them for corporate and community leadership. Preference goes to African American, Hispanic and Native American high school and college students with 3.0 or better grade averages. Since INROADS started in Chicago in 1970 with 25 college student interns and 17 sponsoring corporation, the organization has grown to 52 affiliates, including Mexico City, Mexico, Toronto, Canada, more than 6,000 high school and college students, and over 932 client corporations in 36 states and the District of Columbia. INROADS has received the U.S. Department of Labor LIFT Award in recognition of initiatives to enhance the quality of the American work force and been selected as one of "America's Top 100 Internships" by the Princeton Review annually since 1994.

THE PUBLIC SECTOR

 

 The Washington Intern Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting individuals locate and successfully perform internships on Capitol Hill and in the Washington, DC area.

 Since 1975, The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars has provided over 24,000 students with a comprehensive, participatory learning experience in Washington, D.C. The unique format of The Washington Center's program promotes future leadership for the public, private and nonprofit sectors of society. By combining experiential learning components to our academically- based structure, students have the opportunity to experience and explore various career paths while sampling the intellectual and cultural diversity of our nation's capital.

 The US Department of State manages several student employment programs for students to get experience in a foreign affairs environment through first-hand knowledge. Some of our students work in Washington, D.C., and others have the opportunity to work at an embassy overseas. Positions are both paid and unpaid and many are available during spring, summer or fall.

DOMESTIC AND INTERNATIONAL ISSUES

 

 The National Assembly of National Voluntary Health and Social Welfare Organizations, lists over 2,000 paid and unpaid internships in more than 500 nonprofit human service organizations nationwide.

 The National Institute for Literacy (NIFL), an independent federal agency, has internship positions available for individuals with an interest in literacy. Internships can be scheduled during summers, semesters or full years.

 The Carter Center offers unique and diverse opportunities for undergraduate juniors and seniors, recent graduates, and graduate/professional students who are interested in contemporary international and domestic issues. The internship program is recognized both nationally and internationally and has special appeal for those who wish to combine academic study with practical application and experience.
