OLD BUSINESS –

Philip Bricknell gave a proposal for an AD HOC panel to conduct a study on SBA events.  The purpose of the panel would be to gather information regarding the effectiveness, attendance, and overall success of SBA events.  Mr. Bricknell thought that such information would provide the SBA with a better means for money allocation decisions.

Matt Watters thought that the proposal was an honest attempt to gather information and raised some good points but that the budget committee and the budget process has been quite effective.  Moreover, he added that this panel would be redundant because it would only replicate the duties of the budget committee.

Allen Scazafabo asked Mr. Bricknell if his proposal was directed at budget allocations or if it was just simply to gain information about the likes and dislikes of the student body regarding SBA events.  Mr. Scazafabo said that if it were designed to be more of a quality study it would have some value, however, it were just directed at the budget it would be repetitious.  Mr. Bricknell informed Mr. Scazafabo that it would be more for quality assurance.

Greg Hilzer also questioned what the intent of Mr. Bricknell’s proposal was.  He also said that if it were for second-guessing the SBA budget committee it would not be necessary.

Sarah Henry was also concerned that this ad hoc panel would act as a watchdog against a group that has already been put in place to make decisions regarding funding and budget allocation.

Nicole Antos motioned not to accept Mr. Bricknell’s proposal.  Scott Good seconded the motion.  Motion carried.
