        SPRING BREAK 2008

Interested in the Spring Break Trip?  Print out a form here and return it at either the general meeting or to 310 HUB between 6 and 7pm on Mondays.

Do you want to go down south and have a great spring break? Well, you've found the right place. Each year, Habitat for Humanity International has a Collegiate Challenge, which gives college students from around the country the opportunity to help build affordable housing over their spring break. Penn State HFH has been involved with the program for many years.

Collegiate Challenge Spring Breaks are amazing experiences.  120 students are split among 8 separate trips throughout the south.  Habitat spring breaks are a time for teamwork and dedication to a great cause. The students work 4 to 5 days during the week from about 8:00am to 4:00pm. Jobs consist of painting, stripping wallpaper, interior and exterior framing, blocking, insulation, roofing, digging ditches, landscaping, pouring the foundation, and so forth.

NO SKILLS ARE NEEDED! The on-site construction supervisors teach you everything you need to know. In fact, many people pick up new construction skills while on the trip. It is so rewarding to see what you have accomplished at the end of the day and at the end of the week. Habitat is a trip of work and play. At night after cooking dinner together, the group decides on activities to do, like roller skating, bowling, renting movies, seeing the sites in the area, going to the beach, etc. In addition, depending on what site you are at, special dinners are provided for the students by members of the local community as a Welcoming Dinner on Sunday. Habitat trips are a rewarding and invigorating experience that you will feel good about long after your return to campus. These trips are a chance to get to know people with some of the same interests as you. The costs will vary depending on UPAC funding, but we try to keep it around $250, which isn't a bad price for transportation, lodging, and food. This trip has it all. It is fulfilling, affordable, fun, and takes you to locations that are much warmer than State College. A Habitat trip will be one of the most memorable times of your college career. So, what are you waiting for? Get your friends together and go on a trip this spring!

You can get registration fee reduced through fundraising.  Half of all your money raised goes to your trip.  Click here to find out how.
