Come to a Meeting

Getting involved as a student

One of the major components of Habitat is volunteering at local work sites. Every Saturday while classes are in session (including summer), a group, or sometimes multiple groups, of students meet in front of the HUB to head off to work at a construction site. The only requirements to work are a smile on your face and a willingness to learn. No construction experience is necessary to volunteer with us. In fact, many a volunteer has gone from not knowing which end of a hammer to use (slight exaggeration) to using power tools with the greatest of ease. So there is no reason not to join us on the site!

Building dates occur when we can get them.  Join the listserv to listserv to find out about dates and times. Currently we are working on a house in Coburn and therefore only have one shift on Saturday due to the drive.  We also only work when dates are given to us.  Follow listserv announcements to learn of these days. Unfortunately, only 10 volunteers are permitted on the site at one time.

We are trying to use Thursday and Friday afternoons for organizations to come build with us. We understand that y'all need service hours and would love to help you out. For more information, please see below.

If you are interested in working locally with Habitat for Humanity, we’d love to have you. Simply e-mail Savannah Sheldon. Thank you for your interest in Habitat, and we hope to see you soon!

Getting your organization involved

We want your organization to be involved with habitat; however, currently we can only allow 10 people to the worksite at a time.  Groups wanting to work on a Habitat site should go to the website (www.habitatgcc.org) to check available dates on the Worksite Calendar, which is accessible by clicking on Workday Information and clicking Work-Site Calendar.  (If you have trouble accessing the volunteer calendar from the website, go directly to the web page at www.my.calendars.net/tchfh and follow the directions on the calendar.  If you have further questions, please contact Savannah or attend one of our meetings for more information.
