Our Constitution:

 

CONSTITUTION OF MU KAPPA TAU

PENNSYLVANIA STATE UNIVERSITY: CAPITAL CAMPUS

Article I

Name

Section 1: The name of this organization shall be Mu Kappa Tau: International Marketing Honor Society

Article II

Purpose

Section 1: Mu Kappa Tau exits to:

A. Encourage and recognize scholarship and high academic accomplishment among Marketing students

B. Stimulate interaction and the exchange of ideas between members

C. Promote the advancement of education in Marketing

D. Foster integrity in the conduct of a Marketing career

E. Bring Marketing professionals and student together on the basis of mutual interest, understanding, and helpfulness

 

Article III

Governing Body

Section 1: Mu Kappa Tau shall be administered by members duly elected to the following offices:

A. President

B. Vice President

C. Executive Assistant to President

D. Recording and Corresponding Secretary

Exception: The position of president has been conferred by the Chapter Academic Advisor, Dr. Ugur Yucelt, to Camille Campbell. This exception shall only be used in the future if membership drops to a critical point i.e. one member, as is the current case (10/05/2007). Regular elections will be held for the Spring 2008 semester.

Section 2: Powers and Duties of Officers

Section A. The President

1. Preside over and conduct meetings according to accepted parliamentary procedure.

2. Call Special meetings, appoint committees and assign duties as needed.

3. Keep members focused on fulfilling Mu Kappa Tau objectives

4. Act as a representative of the organization on all matters concerning any affiliations with Mu Kappa Tau and outside organizations or other institutions.

5. All other powers and duties stipulated for the president elsewhere in this constitution or as the office demands.

Section B. The Vice President

1. Active membership in any committee appointed by President

2. Preside over meetings in the absence of President

3. Fill any vacancy when the President relinquishes the chair or vacates office; until elections are held to determine a permanent replacement

4. Advises and aids the President whenever possible in conducting the affairs of Mu Kappa Tau

5. All other powers ordinarily invested in the office of Vice President

Section C. Executive Assistant to President

1. Prepare Agenda for all Executive Board meetings

2. Assist the President in all event Planning as needed

3. Over see the position of Recording and Corresponding Secretary

4. Record meeting notes for all Executive Board Meetings

5. Maintain an accurate account of all monies and financial obligations

Section D. Recording and Corresponding Secretary

1. Server as secretary to the Executive Board

2. Have charge of all books, documents, and papers

3. Prepare and read meetings minutes

4. Make available for the President an agenda for each meeting

5. Count and record votes

6. Keep an accurate membership roll

 

BY-LAWS OF THE CONSTITUTION

Article I

Membership Requirements

Section 1: Membership

An active member of Mu Kappa Tau shall be considered to be in good standing when the following general conditions are met:

1. He/She attends organizational meetings while enrolled in Pennsylvania State University: Capital Campus

2. He/She shows an interest in, and takes part in, the affairs of the organization

3. He/She pays their dues and conducts themselves in a manner becoming of a member of this organization. Specifically,

• Maintain Academic Excellence defined as a Grade Point Average of at least 3.25 on a 4.00 scale: Juniors ranking in the top 10% of their class; Seniors and graduate students ranking in the top 20% of their class; Graduate students having completed 50% of their MS/MBA requirements; and Doctoral candidates completing their course work

• Uphold the principles of motivation, truthfulness and integrity Membership Fee The current (10/2007) membership fee is a single lifetime payment of $50.00 to the National Mu Kappa Tau office. This number will decrease to $40.00 if Mu Kappa Tau achieves recognition as a PSU organization and will therefore be allocated funding.

Membership in Mu Kappa Tau draws together dynamic student, educators and professionals who share high aspirations and a mutual interest and dedication to the Marketing field.

 

 Article II

 Organizational Procedures

Section 1: Meetings Chapter meetings shall be held at least twice a month however the frequency may change as situations such as trips, guest speakers negate.

Section 2: Quorum A majority of the active members on the Secretary’s roll shall constitute a quorum; however, a quorum need not be present at any meeting in order to transact business or vote to commit the organization to a proposal or action.

 

Article IV

Amendments

Amendments to the constitution shall be made when there is a 2/3 majority vote of the members present and it in no way infringes on the objectives of the Chapter or National Mu Kappa Tau organization. Proposal for an amendment shall be presented to the Executive Assistant to the President in writing at least five days before a meeting.
