Budget

The committee is comprised of ten voting members:  SGA budget chair, SGA President, SGA Treasurer, and student appointees.  In addition, several staff members advise the committee as non-voting members.  The budget request is a process through which registered clubs and organizations request funding from the Student Government Association.  The committee members review budget requests from registered clubs and organizations and then recommend allocations to SGA for approval.  SGA allocates upwards of $70,000 per year.  These funds are used to finance programs and activities to improve the quality of student life at Behrend.  The committee is also available to advise organizations in the preparation of budget requests and to provide information about alternative sources of funding.  Budget meetings are closed to students.

Constitution Review

The committee reviews constitutions from new clubs to verify that they are following University policy before being accepted by the Student Government Senate.  They also make sure that the constitutions that are filed in the SGA office are up-to-date.  Finally, the committee reviews SGA’s constitution and if any changes are needed, then those changes are made and presented to the Senate to be voted on.

 THON

The Behrend THON committee organizes, plans, and carries out fundraising efforts for Penn State's 48-hour Dance Marathon, the largest student-run philanthropy in the world.  All of the money raised for THON benefits the Four Diamonds Fund, which provides financial assistance to families of children with Cancer at the Penn State Children's Hospital in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Some of our fundraising efforts include Thon Night at Jr's Last Laugh Comedy Club, working alongside with local high schools and businesses, and four "canning weekends." This year, 4 student dancers will represent Behrend at University Park during THON.
