TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

Physical fitness is stressed but emphasis is placed upon self-discipline. Mental awareness, a positive attitude, self-esteem, along with peer and self-respect are based upon self-discipline.

The class is structured to provide mental and physical training aimed at stabilizing the student’s period of adjustment into the academic and business world and beyond.

COMMITMENT

BMAC has been committed to the physical and mental growth of Penn State students and faculty since the university chartered the club in 1985.   The instructors train the student body in the martial arts, through its club activities, and a credited gym class. The Penn State Behrend Martial Arts Club has graduated 10 “first degree” 7 “second degree” 2 “third degree” and 1 “fourth degree” black belts along with scores of advanced practitioners.   The club has introduced traditional martial arts to hundreds of students since its inception.  Many of these men and women have taken with them into their personal and professional lives, a sense of confidence and self worth that they developed thru martial arts training.

CHALLENGES

BMAC constantly challenges the developing martial artist to strive for his/her best, both academically and physically.  Students are also challenged to strive for harmony in their lives thru mental and physical training.
