Research suggests that traffic noise and human disturbance correlate with decreased fitness of Black-capped Chickadees (Parus Atricapillus), which is most likely caused by a greater incidence of extra-pair paternity. I am interested in testing paternity by using microsatellites regions of chickadee DNA to evaluate this hypothesis and correlate paternity with other biotic and abiotic factors.
