The Epsilon Theta
chapter of Alpha Sigma Alpha is one of three social/service
sororities located on the Penn State Erie, the Behrend College,
campus. The purpose of ASA is to "foster closer friendships
between members and develop women of poise and purpose." ASA
also holds pride in holding annual charities and fundraisers for
its two national philanthropies: the S. June Smith Center and
the Special Olympics. The Epsilon Theta chapter is well-known
for their yearly fall Date Auction which raises proceeds for the
S. June Smith Center, a charity assisting special-needs
children. Alpha Sigma Alpha emphasizes the balance amongst its
four aims: physical, spiritual, social, and intellectual. Some
examples of the what the sisters do to achieve these aims include: joining
intramural teams, participating in ritual ceremonies, mixing
with other both Greek and Non-Greek organizations, and holding a
mandatory GPA requirement. A 2.25 GPA must be achieved to be
eligible to be an active sister, and a 2.50 GPA is required to
hold a position on the executive board. |
