Athletes in Action is the athletic branch of Campus Crusade for Christ, International. AIA exists to reach world-wide those influenced by sports. The ministry has a four-fold objective: win athletes to Christ, build them in their faith and knowledge of Christ, train them for ministry and send them in turn to win, build, train and send others. At Penn State, University Park Campus, Athletes in Action was founded in 1979 by Rev. Tim & Denise McGill. Throughout these past years, Tim & Denise have maintained this ministry and continue to focus on showing athletes how to experience "victory beyond competition." Many have come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ and have grown in His love and gone out to share it with others, worldwide.
At Penn State University, ATHLETES IN ACTION provides the following ministry opportunities for athletes, in the hope they will reach out and affect the entire student body as well as surrounding communities: Bible Studies, 'AIA NITES', one-to-one discipleship, social events with a spiritual emphasis, speaking engagements to present the gospel message (enlisting current athletes), fellowship times with affiliated campus ministries, special evangelistic outreach efforts, such as "A Man Named Brady," Paintball and the "He's Number One"; team spiritual support through pre-game chapel services, post-game "Take a Knee at the 50-yard line" testimonial prayer following football games; ministerial support at bowl games and other special events; Penn State Christian Coaches Assn. with weekly Bible Studies and social functions with interested Christian coaches and staff. We strive to instill a commitment to the greatest Person Who ever lived--Jesus Christ our Lord!
