What We Do...
The Penn State Altoona Lion Ambassadors participate in many events every semester. Our involvement is not limited to Penn State Altoona; we are also very active in the local community. Lion Ambassadors host many social events to encourage camaraderie within the organization.
Some of our activities include…
- One weekly tour per Ambassador - this is done through the admissions office for prospective students;
The tours take approximately 1 hour
- One weekly meeting for the Lion Ambassador organization
- One weekly Executive Board meeting (Exclusive to the Executive Board)
- Fall Open House - Organized through the Admissions Office; Ambassadors
socialize with prospective students, answer questions, and provide campus
tours
- Spring Offer Receptions - Organized through the Admissions Office;
Ambassadors socialize with prospective students, speak about college life,
and provide campus tours
- Spring Junior Open House - Organized through the Admissions Office;
Ambassadors socialize with prospective students, speak about college life,
and provide campus tours
- Organize and assist with Penn State Altoona’s Homecoming events in the Fall
- Host charity events on campus to aid local charities
- Attend Fall and Spring Retreats
- Actively participate in community service projects
- Serve as ushers at the Mishler Theater and at Commencement
- Serve as tour guides and escorts for the Junior Pennsylvania Science Fair
- Participate in the “Major Event of the Year” – a fair where students can meet with the representatives from the different Academic Colleges to assist in choosing a major
- Visit local high schools, representing Penn State Altoona
- Serve as tour guides for any guests on campus
- CNC- Commonwealth Networking Conference for all Lion Ambassadors in the Penn State University System
- Induction Ceremony for newly elected members
- Serve as tour guides as per faculty requests
- Coordinate social events such as holiday caroling, ice-skating, all-night bowling, hayrides, roller skating, holiday parties, Altoona Curve Baseball games, plus much more!
