Commission on LGBT Equity*

Day of Silence - "The Day of Silence, a project of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) in collaboration with the United States Student Association (USSA), is a student-led day of action where those who support making anti-LGBT bias unacceptable in schools take a day-long vow of silence to recognize and protest the discrimination and harassment -- in effect, the silencing -- experienced by LGBT students and their allies. The Day of Silence takes place in April of each year."

Queers for Peace and Justice - Organizes events focused on peace and social justice related to GLBT issues.

Queer Zine Explosion - Queer Zine Explosion (a.k.a. QZE) was a [electronic maga]zine of reviews of paper queer zines which was printed and distributed in the San Francisco queer community before it had ended in 2003. The link will take you to their back issues.

Queer Zine Archive Project - "The mission of the Queer Zine Archive Project (QZAP) is to establish a "living history" archive of past and present queer zines and to encourage current and emerging zine publishers to continue to create. In curating such a unique aspect of culture, we value a collectivist approach that respects the diversity of experiences that fall under the heading "queer." The primary function of QZAP is to provide a free on-line searchable database of the collection with links allowing users to download electronic copies of zines. By providing access to the historical canon of queer zines we hope to make them more accessible to diverse communities and reach wider audiences."

Who's Positive - An HIV/AIDS awareness and support campaign based in PA. Founder and Executive Director Tom Donahue was a PSU student when he discovered he was HIV positive. Today he travels the country to talk about his experiences and to urge students to get tested for HIV and AIDS. We love you Tom!

 

Women In The Life - "Women In the Life ("WITL") was created in 1993 to empower and enrich the lives of lesbians of color, through educational, social and cultural programming, and support services."

 

World AIDS Day Campaign - "World AIDS Day - the international day of action on HIV and AIDS which takes place every year worldwide on  December 1st."
