Student-Organized Annual Events

PILF's Auction
PILF sponsors an annual auction, the proceeds of which underwrite a substantial portion of the summer fellowships. Students, alumni, faculty, local merchants, and celebrities donate goods, services and other items of interest for auction to the highest bidder.

Auctioned items have included signed sports memorabilia -- including a football signed by Joe Paterno, helicopter rides, tickets to sporting events and performances, fine art, dining gift certificates, and dinners hosted by Dickinson Law professors. PILF welcomes the donations of goods or services to the auction to put up for bidding.

Students Funding Students Pledge Campaign
PILF's SFS Campaign is a one-week student pledge drive in the Spring. DSL faculty encourage student participation by offering matching pledges. Donor appreciation gifts include PILF t-shirts, mugs, hats, and pens. All proceeds

Final Exam Gift Baskets
Each semester, PILF invites the families and friends of Dickinson law students to purchase final exam gift baskets. The baskets are filled with healthy snacks, drinks, fruit and fun trinkets. Students receive the baskets during the final week of classes before finals begin.

Public Interest Law Lectures
Each year PILF organizes panels and individual speakers to discuss special issues related to public interest law. Topics have included post-graduate fellowship opportunities such as Equal Justice Works fellowships and career paths in public service.

Public Interest Law Funding Resources Guidebook
In 2004, PILF developed an inaugural DSL Public Interest Funding Resources Guidebook with the support of DSL Career Services and Miller Center. The guidebook provides information about grants and post-graduation fellowship programs, LRAP and other funding opportunities for students while in law school.

Equal Justice Works Career Fair
Dickinson School of Law is a full member of Equal Justice Works (formerly NAPIL). A student member of PILF is sponsored each year to attend the career fair in Washington, DC.

Other Fundraising Events
Among special fundraising events in previous years, PILF has sponsored a Spring 5k Race and Halloween Ghost Tours of Carlisle.
